OASIS Community Center in SamosetGo to our BLOG for current ministries, public information, photos and coming events.
See PHOTOS from our Mission Week and Fiesta! 17 were baptized, 85 patients treated, many more came to Christ.
Woodland is in our second year of operating the OASIS Community Center in the heart of the Samoset community, about 5 miles West of the church. It is a center for ministry and partnering with area community organizations, ministries, and groups to bless the very under-resourced Samoset community and share with them God's love in Christ. Help Merrick His Final Week at OASIS July 31-Aug 7
Jose had to return to Puerto Rico July 30 to finish the college term that was suspended by a strike. That means Merrick will be by himself from July 31 to Aug 7. We need at least two people or more for each shift to work along side Merrick that final week. It's simple, mostly light recreation and games in the morning and afternoon (usu. indoors), with Merrick leading the devotional times. And in the evenings it's usually pick up basketball outside with older teens and young adults. Through recreation we gain the chance to speak into their lives about Christ, and teach them God's word. And it's a lot of fun! No special skills needed.

Merrick will get in touch with you by email after you sign up for a slot (or several slots).
We especially need people (women and high school or older girls particularly) to hang with the younger elementary kids in the afternoons so we can split into games and devotionals for the older kids and middle school.
Just contact Merrick or Jose by clicking their name above to help.
The Samoset Community
The so-called Samoset Triangle is about 500 homes about 5 miles west of Woodland, in a triangle made by Highway 301 on the east, 38h Avenue on the south, and 15th Street on the west. It is very ethnically and culturally diverse.
Our vision is to help strengthen families, demonstrate the love of God, and share the light and knowledge of Christ.
The Need: Gang recruitment is a major problem and concern of the residents. Many of the children this age are latchkey kids. Many parents work two or more jobs. Fewer than 25% of the families are affiliated with a religious group of any kind.
To Volunteer, contact Banks Corl at bcorl@gowoodland.com
Location of the OASIS Center: It is at the corner of 32nd Ave East and 17th Street East in Bradenton, FL, just a block north of Samoset Elementary School.
