April 16 - A Message From Pastor Tim

Woodland Family!
Thank you so much for your continued support of Woodland’s ministries. We want you to know that EVERY DAY MATTERS as we reach out to those who are in need who’ve been affected by the coronavirus and those who are experiencing other struggles due to life’s challenges. We’re praying for you! Below, you’ll find an update on some ongoing and upcoming events.
Once again, we will be worshipping online this weekend, April 19th, at 9:00 and 10:55 am. We’re blown away by how many have been connecting with us in this way. Last weekend, on Easter Sunday, we reached an estimated 2,750 people. It’s because of your continued efforts to invite your friends that we have been able to increase our influence. I want to encourage you to, once again, post on your social media invitations for your friends to join us. I’ll be starting a new series of messages called “WHO: Deciding Who I Want To Be.” We may know who God wants us to be, but we must decide if it’s who we want to be. It’s a great series for those you know to learn about having a more successful life through knowing God and showing His love.
We would love to see you! At the beginning of this weekend’s service, we’ll be showing people who zoom in from wherever they're watching. We’re not asking you to do anything in the service, we just want to see your smiling faces. We can accept as many as 100 people to place on our screen and we would love for you to be one of them. Zoom in five minutes before the service by going to the appropriate link found below….

We have come up with a creative way to keep us engaged as a church community and involved in reaching those not associated with Woodland. It’s our annual Comedy Night! Typically, we turn the Gateway Center (our worship center) into a huge comedy club with cool seating and amazing finger foods to get us ready to hear a nationally known “hilarious” comedian. We didn’t want to miss out on having this event this year. We decided to think outside of the box and make it happen. It’s our first ever (and hopefully last) Virtual Comedy Night. We’ll be having one of our favorite comedians do a show from his house.
Join us on Friday, April 24th, at 7:00 pm
at woodlandlive.com for
Virtual Comedy Night
He’s awesome!!! Because of a donation made to book him, this is a totally free event for you and everyone you invite so invite as many people as you can personally or through social media. We’re asking you to turn your house (or wherever) into a comedy club. Make some comfort food and sit back and enjoy. Jennifer and I will be MCing the night. (Pray that we don’t need counseling after it’s over????)

We’re not letting a pandemic keep us from working toward future ministry. Our goal is to begin construction as soon as possible on our new educational and administrative space that will house our new Middle School and staff. To raise funds, we are once again participating in the Giving Challenge conducted by the Community Foundation of Sarasota (www.cfsarasota.org). For every dollar you give, the foundation will match it up to $100. This is a great way for us to engage people both inside and outside of the church to raise funds to provide this needed space. The challenge takes place during a 24-hour period between noon April 28th and noon April 29th. We will be sending an email to you on the day of giving that will have a link to take you to our giving page. Our goal is to raise $200,000.
You may also decide to, not only give, but be a fund raiser for the cause. Just as many raise money for other charities from donors to reach a personal fund raising goal that they’ve set for themselves, you can do the same with the Giving Challenge. This is done by setting up your own Giving Challenge Site which you can send to your friends, family, coworkers and neighbors to encourage them to give to help you reach your goal. If you would like to be a fund raiser, send an email to jennifer@gowoodland.com with the statement “I want to be a fundraiser.” Also include the email address you would like the foundation to use to send you the link to set up your donation site.
