Hi! My name is Abigail, and I’m 24 years old. I’ve grown up at Woodland, and after spending my whole life here, it truly feels more like home than anywhere else. I love this church and the people in it.
I serve in the high school ministry during the school year and have spent the last six summers helping with B-Town in a variety of roles. I’m also actively involved in our Young Adults Ministry as both a volunteer and an attendee.
My heart is for people to experience community the way Scripture describes it—life-giving relationships where you can grow together, share burdens, celebrate victories, and walk through everyday life side by side.
When I’m not at church, I work as a nurse at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. I’m so grateful to be part of this committee and excited to see what God has in store for the future of Woodland Community Church.

When I was in third grade, I accepted Jesus as my Savior while attending Good News Club at my school in Oregon and have been following Jesus ever since. After college I moved to Florida where I met my wife, Kim. We have been married for close to 35 years and are blessed with two kids, a wonderful son-in-law and daughter-in-law and two beautiful granddaughters. Prior to coming to Woodland, I was a part-time youth pastor and single’s group leader.
Kim and I have been attending Woodland for 25 years. Over the years, I have served as a deacon, served on the stewardship committee, life-group leader, Upward’s coach, a financial counselor, taught Financial Peace, volunteered for special events and co-led mission trips. Woodland has and is an integral part of my life.
In 2020, Kim and I were led to start a little ministry called Cows And Crosses where we post scriptures and sayings below three crosses along S.R. 64. We had no idea the impact our little ministry would have on the community. Over a dozen have accepted Jesus, Bible studies have been started, were told of kids reading the verses on the way to school, we also have received many prayer requests and there so many other stories. God is so good!
I’m excited for Woodland’s future and am looking forward to meeting the person who
God has planned to lead our church.

As the oldest of seven, I was blessed to grow up in a loving Christian home in farm country near Champaign–Urbana, Illinois. Church life and faith were woven into our everyday routine through Scripture reading and memorization, music, and prayer modeled faithfully by my parents. At age eleven, I surrendered my life to Jesus during an evangelistic service and was baptized on Easter Sunday. Teachers, missionaries, visiting ministers, and extended family all played meaningful roles in encouraging my spiritual growth. When I was twelve, our family spent four formative years living in Aibonito, Puerto Rico, where my father served through our church’s mission board. Immersion in a mission-field environment and learning Spanish deeply shaped my faith and perspective.
After high school, I reconnected with a childhood friend, Bob, and after a nine-month engagement we were married. The Lord blessed us with three children—Tim, Todd, and Tina—each of whom has followed a unique path in ministry and leadership. Bob worked many years in auto dealership management and masonry construction, while our family remained deeply involved in church life and service.
My spiritual journey has been one of continual growth, grounded by strong biblical foundations and strengthened through campus ministry, The Navigators, evangelism training, and small groups. Over the years, I have served in many roles, including teaching, deaconess ministry, pastoral search teams, small group coordination, and writing and directing Christmas dramas. Alongside family life, the Lord also guided my professional journey through nursing, property management, corporate leadership, and eventually a 20-year career as a real estate broker, each season teaching me greater dependence on Him.
Bob and I have worshiped at Woodland for many years—first as snowbirds and now as full-time Florida residents—and we are deeply grateful for this church family. My life verse, Micah 6:8, continues to guide me daily: to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with my God.

I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior during a monthly chapel service at the Christian school my brother and I attended. The school was supported by a Baptist church that also provided a bus for Sunday school, making church an important and consistent part of my childhood. I was baptized in middle school following a Sunday worship service, marking an early step in my faith journey.
In 1999, my husband, Mark, and I became Ministry Partners at Woodland, where God has deeply shaped our family’s story. Through Woodland and Pastor Tim Passmore, who wrote a letter of recommendation for our adoption, God opened the door for us to become parents. We were further blessed through WECC, Woodland Middle Academy, and the ongoing love and support of Jennifer Passmore. Woodland has been instrumental in growing my relationship with Christ and has filled my life with a church family, meaningful friendships, and countless blessings.
Out of gratitude, I seek to give back by saying “yes” to needs and following Jesus’ example of serving and loving others. To me, serving is an act of obedience—sharing my time and talents while honoring Christ’s sacrifice and reflecting His love to those around me.
I currently serve in Middle School Student Ministry and on the Personnel and Pastor Search Committees. In the past, I have served in Club 54, Woodland Kidz, on the Stewardship Committee, and as a parent volunteer at Woodland Middle Academy, and I am thankful for every opportunity to invest in the life of the church.
