I Am Who You Say I Am

This sermon launches a new series focused on the believer's identity in Christ, arguing that there has never been a more critical time to establish a firm biblical understanding of who we are. What if the greatest battle we face every day is not the one happening around us, but the one happening within us? This message takes us deep into the wilderness with Jesus in Matthew 4, where Satan's very first move was not to tempt him with bread or power, but to attack his identity. Before anything else, the enemy whispered, 'If you truly are the Son of God.' That strategy has not changed in two thousand years. Every day, the same voice whispers to us that we are not forgiven, not enough, too broken, too far gone. The central truth here is both simple and revolutionary: if the enemy believed the best place to attack the sinless Son of God was his identity, how much more aggressively will he come after ours? Drawing from 2 Corinthians 5:17, which declares that anyone in Christ is a new creation with the old having passed away and the new having come, we are challenged to stop defining ourselves by our habits, our failures, and the opinions of others, and to start anchoring ourselves in what God has already declared to be true. This is not about trying harder. It is about thinking differently. And when we begin to see ourselves the way God sees us, everything changes.
