I Belong: Finding Your Place in the Family of God

Sep 6, 2026    Joe Pisani

What does it truly mean to belong? Not just to show up somewhere, but to be woven into something larger than ourselves? In this message drawn from Acts 2:42-47, we explore the radical, life-giving community of the earliest followers of Christ and discover that belonging is not a passive state but an active, daily commitment. The believers described in Acts were not casual participants. They were continually devoted to teaching, to fellowship, to shared meals, and to prayer. They sold possessions to meet each other's needs. They did life together with gladness and sincerity of heart. This was not religion at arm's length. It was family. And that is exactly what God has called us into. When we truly embrace our identity as children of God, adopted into his family through faith in Christ, we realize that we were never meant to walk this journey alone. Transformation does not happen in isolation. Caring for one another cannot happen in isolation. The question this message leaves us with is both simple and deeply challenging: are we showing up consistently, stepping into community, and allowing others to truly know us? Because the life God has for us is found not in solitude, but in the kind of devoted, authentic togetherness that the early church modeled so powerfully.
