Here I Am, Send Me: Responding to God's Invitation
What does it actually mean to say yes to God? Not the comfortable, theoretical version of surrender we sing about on Sunday mornings, but the real kind, the kind that costs something. This message takes us into the heart of Reality Number Three in the progression of experiencing God: the moment when seeing becomes responding. We explore the lives of people like Isaiah, Peter, Andrew, James, John, Abraham, Moses, and Esther, ordinary men and women who encountered an extraordinary invitation and had to decide what to do with it. None of them had the full picture when they said yes. None of them knew how their story would end. And yet they stepped forward anyway. The central challenge placed before us is this: we have become very good at identifying what somebody else ought to be doing, when perhaps the burden we cannot shake, the need we keep noticing, the person who keeps coming to mind, is God's way of saying that the somebody He has in mind is us. This is where faith stops being theoretical and starts being lived.
